Laurie Anderson – Sharkey’s Night

Experimental MusicWe just set up a Youtube account and will start loading video. Our first one is of one of our favorite Laurie Anderson songs. We couldn’t find another version of this snappy little doo-dad, so we uploaded it. We were just going to post the video with a few images, but decided to have a bit of fun with some animation instead. Hope you enjoy it. As for the song itself, “Sharkey’s Night” is the bookend to the 1983 release of Mister Heartbreak. It compliments the equally enjoyable opener “Sharkey’s Day.” The fact that Laurie recorded William S. Burroughs’ recitation of her words in the song is a big plus-plus.

Laurie Anderson is a veteran avant-garde artist whose career has spanned about four decades. She does phenomenally interesting stuff. Check out the rest of the album on Laurie’s MySpace page. As with anything we post, we encourage you to buy the items we’re showcasing. We wouldn’t recommend them if we didn’t think they were worth it. Besides, Laurie is married to Lou Reed and we all know Laurie’s his Sugar Mama, so help a sister out, huh?
