Girard Roundtree, Star Wars Illustrator

In addition to Comic-Con 2013 stuff, I think I’m going to start posting a bunch of oldies over the next few posts. I still have thousands of pictures and scans to share and I’m tired of writing. The more I write, the fewer page views I seem to get. I remember as a kid when MTV first launched and cable TV started programming heavily to young adults that folks bemoaned that we were becoming an MTV nation, i.e., quick visual gratification was more satisfying than the written word and stuff. Yeah, probably. So, second to porn, the Internet is all about pictures and video of whatever else, right? Ergo Pinterest.

I met Girard Roundtree years ago (early 199-something) and bought these postcard sized prints. Girard is actually better known for his Star Trek paintings and I think he did some for the Star Trek Master Series (which I think I have somewhere but I’m too lazy to go find). I remember thinking he was a consummate Star Trek nerd. He wasn’t just a talented genre painter and a fan of the series, but a genuine fanatic. At least that’s how I remember him.

I haven’t found anything else on Girard Roundtree of any merit online. Anyone know what he’s up to? Anyway, here you go.
