Since we’re on the theme of music and since we’ve now discussed the fact that sometimes the 2nd go at a song is better than the original, here are a couple of examples. Like the original versions, love the follow-up versions.
Kraftwerk’s original song “Radioactivity” has been remade dozens of times. This is common in electronica, so there are plenty of versions to choose from. The first video is the original song (or at least an edit of it) from 1975. The 7″ remix video below the original is our favorite version. By the way, if we had more time to write tonight we would talk about the astonishing impact Kraftwerk has had on the world of electronic music. Waaaay ahead of it all.
A Flock of Seagulls is yet another reason to hate the 1980’s for almost destroying the ozone layer. But what they lacked in fashion (by today’s standards anyway), they made up for in catchy synthesizer/guitar music. “A Space Age Love Song” is one of our favorite 1980’s hits. The first video is from their 1982 album. The second video is Geunter Schulz’s remix from the 2003 I Ran: the Best Of album. Play it loud.
