American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang

American Born Chinese graphic novelOne of our favorite graphic novels is “American Born Chinese” by Gene Luen Yang. The book tells three stories, all of which are interesting enough and very different from each other; however, they meld together for a thoughtful ending.

The book is widely praised and received several awards including an Eisner. At a superficial level it’s a good read but if you pay attention, there are additional details to reward the observant. Chinese Born American was published in 2006 by First Second and can be found online for purchase from various outlets.
